Professor Victor Borun    Professor Victor Borun
The Republic of Poland awarded Professor Borun its Cavalier Cross of the Order of Merit in 1997 for his expert help in establishing and developing capital markets. Professor Borun helped write the basic legislation governing Poland's securities industry. At the same time, he helped introduce the Western-style professions of stock brokerage and security analysis. More amazingly, he did it all while serving as Finance Area Chair at Fordham since 1985.

"The Polish stock market opened in 1991 and now has about 150 companies," Borun said. "It is one of the most dynamic and stable growth markets in Eastern Europe. When I want to talk to my students about privatization or talk about working in the international marketplace, I have plenty of real examples."

"This is the mission of Fordham faculty and the Jesuit tradition at work-serious research brought to life by excellent teaching." Professor Borun is especially proud to have won the Gladys and Henry Crown Award for Faculty Excellence three years in a row starting in 1987, an honor voted by the graduating class each year.

Borun aids training for banks and financial institutions both at home and abroad. He has helped develop Corporate Governance programs in Prague, Budapest and Moscow. Borun holds both a Master's and Ph.D. from the Graduate School of Business Administration at New York University, and an MS in Industrial Economics from the Central School of Planning and Statistics in Warsaw, Poland.
