Global Focus The world has forever become an international marketplace--with New York City as the pivotal commercial gateway. The Fordham Graduate School of Business must reflect this reality at a fundamental level in its research and teaching--providing managers with the knowledge necessary to flourish in the global environment. We strive to be the City's "21st bridge," a global gateway to the international marketplace. A Pragmatic Approach While the world needs "captains of industry," what it most needs is practical, well-trained, effective managers. Our focus is on providing emerging managers with the "real-world" skills, fundamental knowledge and practical approaches needed to contribute to their organizations immediately upon graduation. We also provide our graduates with the theoretical training needed to succeed as they assume leadership positions in the future. Emphasis on Superior Quality The Fordham Graduate School of Business will continue to narrow its focus on the development of superior research, teaching consulting expertise--attempting to establish world-class faculty performance in key areas, rather than attempting to be all things to all people. Importance of Part-Time Programs Forham's part-time management education programs have become a staple in New York's business community. As part of our review process, we have renewed our commitment to offering top-quality, part-time educational programs to meet the growing demand for flexibility and customer service among the city's business professionals. Lifelong Learning We recognize that the concept of lifelong learning must guide our program offerings--along with a recognition that our academic programs must coincide with the employment cycles of our graduates. Our alumni are part of a family. We intend to meet their need for continuous renewal, personal growth and new professional development throughout their careers. Values-Based Education We have reaffirmed our commitment to our Jesuit legacy. Principal among the educational goals of the Fordham Graduate School of Business is an insistence on the humanistic development of the whole person, a concern for academic excellance and moral, social and corporate responsibility. A Foundation for the Future We recognize that this list is dynamic--a well-crafted foundation from which the Fordham Graduate School of Business can build a successful future. We believe that the self-study process from which these principles emerged is one that must be constantly revisited if we are to continue to be recognized as a school of international distiction. |
