Biography

Stanley Veliotis joined the Fordham faculty in Fall 2007, teaching taxation and accounting courses.  As an attorney, certified public accountant and certified equity professional, Stan practiced law and accounting for nearly two decades.  After obtaining his certified public accountant license, he attended Fordham University School of Law, from where he graduated to practice as an attorney with a Manhattan law firm, primarily working on business litigation and transactions.

He then completed his LLM (Masters of Law) in taxation at New York University School of Law. After obtaining his LLM, he worked for a large law firm, primarily working on tax-exempt bond transactions. He then worked for nearly a decade for two of the “Big 4” international accounting firms, including a year in Paris, France, specializing in the taxation of international employee compensation. He became a leading adviser to multinational firms that extend their stock option plans to workers beyond the firm’s home country.

He has presented at seminars hosted by Global Equity Organization, National Association of Stock Plan Professionals, KPMG, Ernst & Young, American Taxation Association and American Accounting Association, and he has authored publications related to international stock plans in International HR Journal, Compensation and Benefits Review, and International Tax Review.  Before completing his PhD from the University of Connecticut, he taught numerous accounting and taxation courses. While at UConn, he was one of 10 national winners of the inaugural PWC xFAC award for PhD students.  Stan’s empirical research areas include insider trading, earnings management and tax impact on asset prices.
