Biography

Mr. Bochner began his tax career at Deloitte & Touche in New York, where he worked extensively on federal, state and local income tax matters.  His duties included an assignment to the firm’s national office for preparation of publications on taxation and legislative developments and for review of innovative and technical applications.  In 1981, He joined the law firm of Gifford, Woody, Palmer & Serles, which merged into Townley & Updike in 1985.  At Townley & Updike, he continued his specialization in taxation and employee benefit laws and became counsel to the firm in 1993.  He is AV Martindale-Hubbell rated.

Mr. Bochner is presently a tax counsel consulting on the tax aspects of commercial and financial transactions, including corporate, partnership, individual, real estate, offshore, estate and gift tax matters and a Clinical Assistant Professor at Fordham University’s Graduate School of Business Administration.  He has structured corporate, partnership and limited liability company equity interests, acquisitions, stock option plans, and qualified and nonqualified employee benefit plans.  He also provides litigation support in the formulation of tax and accounting-related economic issues and evidence.  He has appeared in and has advised media in financial news.

Bochner, born Jersey City, New Jersey, November 6, 1950; admitted to bar, 1977, New York; admitted to U.S. District Courts (E.D.N.Y. and S.D.N.Y.) and U.S. Tax Court.  Education: Yeshiva University (A.A. and B.A., cum laude, 1972); New York University (M.B.A., in Accounting, with distinction, 1973); St. John’s University (J.D., 1977); New York University (LL.M., in Taxation, 1981).  Other: Certified Public Accountant (New York State); Volunteer Emergency Medical Technician.  Practice Areas: Taxation and Employee Benefit, Corporate, Partnership and Trust and Estate Laws.
