The Center for Management Studies was founded in 1985 to promote research and educational programs that disseminate and advance the management teaching of Dr. W. Edwards Deming (1900-1993). While Deming is best known for his work on quality improvement, he spent his last years working relentlessly to convince business leaders to replace their traditional management systems with a new, integrated, science-based system tuned to the information age. His proposed system weaves together basic theory from four distinct disciplines: systems theory, statistical theory, behavioral theory, and theory of knowledge. Managers at all levels, in order to prepare themselves to install, operate, and improve this system, must educate themselves in these four areas.
The centerpiece of the Center’s educational program is the Deming Scholars MBA program. For more details, please visit Deming Scholars MBA.
