National Society of Hispanic MBAs Scholarship Program
The National Society of Hispanic MBAs (NSHMBA) provides financial assistance to outstanding Hispanics pursuing an MBA. To be eligible, you must be: a U.S. Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident, of Hispanic heritage, a current NSHMBA member, and meet NSHMBA's GPA requirements. This is not a Fordham-managed scholarship. The Leo S. Rowe Pan American Fund

These highly subsidized loans are made with the understanding that upon completion of their studies, beneficiaries commit to repay the loan in full and return to their home countries to apply their knowledge and training to the economic and social advancement of the developing countries within the Americas.

  • Supplementary aid of up to US$15,000 (for living expenses, tuition, or emergencies not covered by their principal source of finance)
  • Applications are accepted and reviewed year-round –there are no deadlines.
  • Loans are granted for graduate and undergraduate studies.  
  • Scholars, researchers, and professionals are also eligible for exchange programs and professional development courses lasting minimum one academic semester.

My Professor: Finance

John Finnerty
Finnerty contributed two chapters to the Handbook of Corporate Finance, Chapter 35: “Securities Innovations” and Chapter 40: “Real Options.”  Finnerty and Mary Kuan co-authored “When the Insurance Regulators Sneeze, the Hybrid Market Can Catch a Cold” which was published in the Summer issue of Journal of Insurance Regulation.

In addition to writing, Finnerty is also Editor of “FMA Online”, Associate Editor of the “Journal of Portfolio Management” and Associate Editor of the “Journal of Applied Finance”.

James R. Lothian
Lothian is currently on sabbatical; he is presently a Visiting Scholar at the Limburg Institution Limburg Institute of Financial Economics at Maastricht University in the Netherlands.  His paper "Real Exchange Rates over the Last Two Centuries: How Important Is the Harrod-Balassa-Samuelson Effect?" was accepted for publication in the Economic Journal.

Lothian was also invited to lecture on "The Behavior of Prices and Nominal Exchange Rates across Exchange-Rate Regimes: Three Natural Experiments" at the International Conference on Macroeconomic Analysis and International Finance.  Lothian presented “Irving Fisher, Expectational Errors and the UIP Puzzle” at the INFINITI Conference on International Finance.  In November, he will make an invited presentation on “Financial History in Historical Perspective” at a conference on “Financial Integration and its Implications,” jointly sponsored by the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, the University of Cambridge and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
