Dean's Forum:
The myth that summers are slow for academic institutions was thoroughly disproved at the Graduate School as we busily prepared for this new academic year. I would like to thank everyone at the School for the dedication I’ve seen over the past two years. You have all shown a commitment to the strategic plans we have laid forth, and I am happy to say that we are moving forward – achieving our goals and identifying new ones.
I know a topic that weighs heavily on all faculty minds is AACSB accreditation. The review team will be here in February 2009 to review our programs, faculty and services. Everyone has worked hard to help meet the AACSB requirements, and we are optimistic that the review team will recognize the amazing progress we have made since our last review. I would like to assure everyone that regardless of the outcome in February, we will not be losing our accreditation. This confusion has been creeping into our student focus groups and adjunct communications, and I want you to help me put a stop to it. Let me repeat, we are not loosing our accreditation. If the review team finds areas that still need work to meet the standards, they will guide us in the right direction and come back the next year. If you hear students, alumni or other faculty concerns about our accreditation, please assure them that we are not in danger of losing our accreditation. We must stay united and positive as we move into the 2008-2009 year. I am sure that with your continued support, this year we will see the same great strides of the previous years.
Again, thank you to everyone for a wonderful 2007-2008.
Warm regards,
Howard Tuckman

For those of you who may not have heard, the Graduate School of Business has started an alumni networking group out of the Dean’s Office. This organization – called the World Wise Network, or WWN – has already helped reconnect hundreds of alumni in the past six months. In April, Dean Tuckman hosted the first WWN Alumni Networking Reception, which was held at the Princeton Club. Nearly 100 Graduate School of Business alumni and their guests were in attendance.
