School Update

Entrepreneurship is always a hot-ticket item in business, and many MBA students are eager to learn more about how they can start their own business in today’s market. Now, thanks to the generous support of Bert Twaalfhoven, a College of Business Administration alumnus and resident of Holland, we can provide answers with the Bert Twaalfhoven Center for Entrepreneurship. Twaalfhoven has founded 51 high-tech companies in 11 countries. He is truly a global entrepreneur, and with his help the Graduate School of Business Administration at Fordham University will be able to enhance our entrepreneurship offerings.

The Crucible Experience
Sander Flaum, Management

Adjunct Professor Sander Flaum’s enviable career began with the New York State Democratic committee as Bobby Kennedy’s ethnic issues speechwriter. For many of us, a position like that would be the high point of a career. For Flaum, it was just the first of many highs – and a few lows.

Student News: Mentor Program Begins!

Career success depends on many things: intelligence, confidence, professional experience, a respected degree, but perhaps most important, a strong network. With this thought in mind, a number of our student clubs are launching mentoring programs. The immediate objective of each mentor/mentee relationship is to enhance a student’s career planning and aid in the student's professional development. The long-term goal is to build a worldwide network of alumni who are recognized in the business community as natural mentors – to their employees, co-workers and fellow alumni of Fordham.

Mentor responsibilities are minimal: make a one-year commitment, complete a short form (so that each mentor is paired with the appropriate student), meet in person with the student twice a year, and speak to the student on the phone once a month. Please contact Stephanie Cziczo at cziczo@fordham.edu for more information.
