W. Edwards Deming Memorial Conference: The M.B.A. Under Siege: Reimagining Management Education

Some of management education’s most prestigious scholars discussed the future of MBA programs on May 11, 2010 at Fordham.

MBA programs can be reinvented, but business schools need to see the disciplines of business as embedded in society, said R. Edward Freeman, Ph.D., the Elis and Signe Olsson Professor of Business Administration at the University of Virginia. “Business is fundamentally about how humans create value for each other, in the context of society. We can’t see it any longer as being outside of society in Free Market Land. I think we get business wrong, and because of that, a lot of other things are wrong, too,” Freeman said.

Second Global Forum for Responsible Management Education

Representatives from academic business schools around the world gathered on June 23 at Fordham to support the first United Nations-sponsored initiative to promote social responsibility in business. At a daylong conference, the "Second Global Forum for Responsible Management Education," some 200 leaders discussed how management education might best develop and promote responsible international corporate leadership. U.S. News & World Report Rankings

U.S. News & World Report has ranked Fordham 25th in the nation for its executive MBA (EMBA) program and 23rd nationally for its graduate program in marketing. This year marks the first time that both programs made the list, which appeared in the magazine’s April 21 issue on best graduate business schools.
