Earn a Dual Degree with Thunderbird University

The Fordham Graduate School of Business and the American Graduate School of International Management (“Thunderbird”) in Glendale, Arizona, have forged a partnership to offer a dual degree program, the MBA and the MGM (Master in Global Management).

The MBA/MGM program allows a full-time student to complete the requirements for both degrees in less than two and a half years. Participation in the program requires admission to and advance approval of both schools. Fordham students interested in applying to the dual degree program should apply to Thunderbird as early as possible; students are not normally approved after they have completed more than 50% of their regular program.

Students in the MBA/MGM program should abide by the following requirements:

Fordham Graduate School of Business students may transfer up to 12 credits from Thunderbird. They will receive credit for coursework in which they have received a “B” or better grade. The credits will apply towards the degree requirements at Fordham. Grades earned for these courses will not be considered in computing the grade point average. The courses must be breadth or free electives and must be approved by Academic Advisor prior to the first term at Thunderbird.

  • Should a student drop below Fordham’s minimum residency requirement of 45 credits, he/she must take additional upper level courses in the same academic area to reach the minimum requirement.
  • Dual degree students are required to complete at least 30 credits at Thunderbird (only 12 of those will apply to the MBA).
  • Students pay the appropriate tuition and fees to the institution of attendance which will provide all student services during the time of attendance on that campus.
  • Only students in the regular MBA, cohort MBA and GPMBA programs are eligible for the dual degree program. Students in the following special programs are ineligible:
    • MS in Taxation, MS in Communications, MSQF, MS in Information Systems
    • BS/MBA and BS/MS
    • JD/MBA

Other opportunities with Thunderbird University

Post MBA
The Post MBA enables MBA graduates to further internationalize their knowledge of business practices and business environments. Because the MBA graduate (or the holder of a similar graduate degree) has a solid foundation in graduate business education, the Post MBA program at Thunderbird (which must be started no later than five years after graduation from Fordham) is designed to build upon that knowledge. A minimum of 30 credit hours are required. Students who are able to waive Level I language may be able to complete the program more quickly.

Overseas Programs
Thunderbird also has an Overseas Program, in which Fordham students may participate. Students enhance their knowledge and experience in the global business environment through participation in special study programs located around the globe.

For details, please contact Associate Dean Ilhan Akbil at (212) 636-6170 akbil@fordham.edu or Program Associate Yvette Adeosun at yadeosun@fordham.edu.
